Pipe Organ Recital

May 30, 2026, 2:00 PM – 3:15 PM

Join St Luke’s Anglican Church in Toowoomba as they celebrate the completion of the long-awaited conservation of the church’s magnificent historic pipe organ

Having raised over $156,000 to conserve the majestic St Luke’s Pipe Organ, it is now time for the community to celebrate its completion. The heritage-listed Normal and Beard organ was built in 1907 and has been a central part of the Toowoomba community since then.

Dr Phillip Gearing, Organist at the Cathedral of St Stephen in Brisbane, presents a 60-minute solo organ recital, demonstrating the delicacy and power of the instrument. Dr Gearing has performed in many English and European cathedrals.  He was formerly a senior lecturer at UniSQ and the organist at St Luke’s from 2007 to 2012.

Enjoy the delicate and stirring tones of this beautiful instrument, acknowledged as being amongst the best of its kind in Queensland.
