Stories in Glass and Stone - St John's Cathedral
What an incredible afternoon inside the extraordinary St John’s Cathedral — a masterpiece built in three distinct stages, each reflecting the vision and craftsmanship of its era. The differing architectural styles and the stunning stained-glass windows from each phase tell their own story, with unique themes and artistic details that together create a breathtaking whole.
It was wonderful to welcome our members and industry colleagues for this Trust Talk, all captivated by the stories behind the Cathedral’s three eras of windows — many forming thematic groups of lights that shine with symbolism and history.
Our heartfelt thanks to Helen Wootton and John Carr for their fascinating insights and generosity in sharing their knowledge. You could easily spend a day exploring this remarkable place — and of course, we finished the afternoon just as we like it: with good conversation and afternoon tea.
