Pioneers in Petticoats - The Macarthur Sisters

May 13, 2023, 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM

"Pioneers in Petticoats" is an exhibition at Miegunyah House Museum which focuses on the Macarthur sisters and their intertwined histories, both with each other and the state of Queenland.

The Queensland Women's Historical Association holds a large collection of items belonging to Catherine Macarthur Leslie, who first came to Queensland in the 1840's and shared the experiences of pioneering in early Queensland with her husband Patrick, and her sister Anna and brother-in-law Wickham. Some items from Newstead House will also be included in the exhibition.

A special treat is Kate's autograph book (acknowledged as nationally significant). The exhibition is part of the guided tour of this charming and elegant house, steeped in the history of Queensland's colonial women pioneers.
